CDL Program
Advance Your Career With Our CDL Assistance Program
Obtaining your CDL license is expensive and time-consuming. At Arrowhead Line, we thought there was a better way to help our employees advance their careers.
To support your career development, Arrowhead Line offers a CDL Assistance Program for any employee interested in obtaining their CDL. This 10-week program allows you to gain the skills needed to pass your CDL test and obtain your license.
Program Details
- $1,000 cost for a 10-week program. Employees may pay in full or have $100 withheld from per diem pay until the course is paid off.
- The course covers Class A CDL, driven in an automatic vehicle only.
Course Timeline
The First 4 Weeks
You will obtain your Commercial Learner’s Permit and complete the “theory” portion of the Entry Level Driver Training online. This is completed at your own expense on your own time.
You can complete the course online at ELDT.com for $50-$75. Tests taken on the computer at the DMV must be scheduled for the latest time, which is 4 pm. You are allowed to leave early from work if needed.
This will allow you to work your 8 and receive per diem. You MUST have your permit in hand to start the next stage of the program.
The Last 6 Weeks
You will have “behind the wheel” training and complete this portion at our shop in Canyon for 1 day per week for 6 weeks with a trainer. You will be paid an 8-hour day, and Arrowhead Line employees receive per diem.
Do not be late, as standard company policy regarding per diem still applies.
Program Completion Testing
When you have completed the program, you can schedule your skills test with the DMV to get your CDL.
All company-sponsored driving tests will be taken in Amarillo, so schedule accordingly on the dates your trainer gives you. Employees are responsible for all fees due at the DMV at testing time.
The company will pay employees for the first two driving tests. If neither test is passed, the company will provide a vehicle for 1 more test, but you will not be paid.
If you do not pass after taking 3 tests, the company will still provide you with a vehicle for testing, but you will be charged $200 per test.
Your CDL License
After you obtain your CDL license, you have the opportunity to have your $1,000 program fee reimbursed if you remain employed with Arrowhead Line for 1 year after obtaining your license.
